New variety first blooms on street | 樱花新品种首次绽放武汉街头

　　On March 9, the 28 second-generation Prunus 'Accolade' ("奖章樱" in Chinese which literally means medal cherry) trees on Xinhua Road entered their peak blooming period. Introduced in November last year, the species has bloomed for the first time on the streets of Wuhan.

　　3月9日，新华路上二代28株奖章樱进入盛花期。该品种于去年11月引进，这是其首次在武汉街头绽放。

　　Prunus 'Accolade'

　　Prunus 'Accolade' is a Japanese cultivar, named for its pink flowers that resemble medals. The blossoms bloom twice every year, mainly in March but also sporadically in autumn from mid-September to early November.

　　奖章樱是日本栽培品种，因其粉红色的花朵形似奖章而得名。奖章樱每年两季开花，春季主要集中在3月份开放，秋季则零零星星地陆续开放，从9月中旬一直持续至11月初。
