Primary school plants rice on campus | 武汉一小学将水稻种进校园
Young students from Luojiashan Primary School were fascinated by "50 Years of Golden Seed Dream" and "The Story of a Grain of Rice," two stories from CCTV's "The First Lesson of 2022" on the evening of Sept. 1.
9月1日晚上，珞珈山小学的全体同学在家收看了《2022开学第一课》，不少孩子对“50年的金色种子梦”和“一粒稻米的故事”格外感兴趣。
Wang Yuya's eyes welled up with tears when 82-yearold academician Xie Hua'an was telling the story of how he worked hard for 50 years to cultivate high-quality rice seeds in China. "Xie says that his grandmother used to feel privileged just to have a bowl of porridge, but now we Chinese firmly hold the rice bowl in our own hands. I was very moved to hear about that," said the fourth grader.
王昱雅看到82岁的谢华安院士讲述为了人人都有一碗饭吃，他奋斗50年，培育优质稻种的故事时，眼眶红了。“听到谢院士说以前他奶奶喝上一碗稀饭都是奢望，如今中国人已经把饭碗牢牢端在自己手上，真的非常感动。”王昱雅说。
Rice paddy on school campus
Coinciding with the theme of the CCTV stories, the school planted the seeds of nearly 100 varieties of plants, including rice, on campus before the new semester began. Students will have the opportunity to experience the whole process of how a seed grows while smelling the fragrance of and touching the ears of the rice.
与《2022开学第一课》“金色种子梦”主题不谋而合的是，这个新学期，该校老师们也将水稻等近百种植物的种子移栽进了校园，让孩子们切身感受一粒种子成长的全过程，可以闻见稻香，触摸稻穗。
"During the summer vacation, over 30 teachers worked with agricultural experts to transplant rice seedlings and various saplings into the campus soil," said Hu Ti, the school principal. The rice will be harvested in October.
“暑期中，我们三十多个老师没有休息，和农业专家们一起把水稻的种子、树苗移栽进校园。”该校校长胡媞说，水稻今年10月便可收获。
