From construction worker to lawyer | 从建筑工到律师
In an extraordinary life, Zhao Hongbai, 56, went from being a construction worker to a security guard and later a full-time lawyer.
从建筑工人到保安，再到成为一名全职律师，今年56岁的赵红柏活出了不凡的人生。
In his early years, he was a construction worker in Shenzhen. In 1998, he and his younger cousin went to work in a food factory in Wuhan where his cousin later had an accident. In order to secure fair treatment and compensation for his cousin whose arm had been broken, Zhao had to interact with a number of departments. Eventually, his efforts paid off and the factory paid for his cousin's medical treatment. This experience not only taught Zhao the importance of using the law to defend oneself, but also made him decide at 32 to teach himself law.
早年间，赵红柏在深圳做建筑工。1998年，他和堂弟来到武汉一家食品厂送货，后来堂弟手臂被工厂机器绞断。为给堂弟讨说法，赵红柏四处奔波。在他的努力下，食品厂支付了堂弟的医疗费。这次经历，让赵红柏知道了法律的重要性，当时32岁的他决定自学法律。

After years of after-work study, Zhao earned an undergraduate degree at Wuhan University. Subsequently, he passed the national unified legal professional qualification examination, at age 42 after five attempts, and became a legal practitioner. As more and more cases piled up, Zhao had to leave his job as a security guard to serve as a lawyer full-time.
边工边读，赵红柏终于拿到武汉大学法学自考本科毕业证。后来，42岁的他第5次参加他参加国家统一法律职业资格考试，终于成功通过考试入行。随着案源增多，赵红柏辞了保安工作，成了一名全职律师。
Zhao plans to continue his legal work after retirement, offering pro-bono help to the public.
退休后，赵红柏打算继续在业内工作，帮群众免费打官司。
