CGTN Europe broadcasts Simon Haworth's Wuhan story | 中央广播电视总台欧洲总站聚焦—— 西蒙的“武汉故事”

　　This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ambassadorial diplomatic relations between China and the U.K. To commemorate it, the London-based CGTN Europe launched a series of reports, "To the Future Together." On October 10, the series reported Simon Haworth's story in Wuhan.
　　为纪念中英两国建立大使级外交关系50周年，设在伦敦的中央广播电视总台欧洲总站推出融媒体系列报道《寻找新时代的“破冰者”》。10月10日，向受众介绍了西蒙·霍沃思的武汉故事。


　　The video showed the precious images taken by Simon's grandparents when they visited Wuhan in the 1960s, and the diary about Wuhan written by Simon's grandmother. According to Simon's Chinese "brother" Yu Tantan, senior editor of the Changjiang Daily, in 2012, Simon was attracted by the rapid development and potential of Wuhan and decided to set up a company here in Wuhan to carry out R&D in biotechnology.
　　其中播放了西蒙祖父母上个世纪60年代访问武汉时拍摄的珍贵影像，特别展现了西蒙祖母在武汉写下的日记原件。据西蒙的好友长江日报记者余坦坦介绍，2012年，西蒙被武汉快速的发展和巨大的潜力吸引，决定在武汉成立公司，开展生物科技方面的研发。
　　视频中西蒙还朗读了祖母1963年4月14日武汉日记中的一段。视频以西蒙最近的讲述为主，许多镜头和照片都是几年前长江日报记者余坦坦赴英时拍摄的。
　　据西蒙的好友余坦坦介绍，早在1874年，西蒙的高祖就开始与中国做丝绸生意，是英国最早一批与中国做生意的商人。此后，其家族中每一代人都与中国有着密切往来。到西蒙的大儿子乔治在上海实习，其家族六代人都与中国有了友好交往。2012年，在中国寻找投资机遇的西蒙被武汉快速的发展和巨大的潜力吸引，决定在武汉成立公司，与湖北、武汉合作，将英国的生物科技引入中国市场，开展生物科技方面的研发。鉴于西蒙在中英科技与人文交流方面作出的杰出贡献，2015年武汉市人民政府授予他“黄鹤友谊奖”，2017年获得当时中国政府为表彰外国友人而设立的最高荣誉奖项“中国政府友谊奖”，并先后两次受到国务院总理李克强的接见。
　　In the report, Simon said, "Standing on the banks of the Yangtze River, being interviewed by local news outlets, hearing the stories about the first bridge — and then finding out that was exactly the same place that my grandparents had stood and photographed the bridge and probably heard the same stories... those are very, very deep, personal moments that you'll never forget."
　　报道中，西蒙说“站在长江边接受本地媒体采访，听着武汉大桥的故事，豁然发现那就是我祖母曾去过且拍照留念的大桥，可能她当年也听过同样的故事。我永远不会忘掉这种来自心底很深很深的触动。”
